Breastfeeding Support Services

Breastfeeding supplies a superior source of nutrition of the infant and an opportunity for bonding between mother and child. Although breastfeeding is a natural process, assistance and evaluation by health care professionals can help assure a successful and enjoyable experience.

The Women's Center employs four board certified lactation consultants with backgrounds in LDR, Women's OR, Mother/Baby, Pediatrics and RNICU. They provide patient education, assist with breastfeeding initiation/problems and teach breastfeeding workshops for nursing staff and community.

Breastfeeding Support Services are provided by phone consults, office visits by appointment, pump rentals by appointment and inpatient visits by a lactation consultant. Families may also choose an outpatient visit by self or physician referral. A private, comfortable room is provided for one on one consultation to solve breastfeeding problems and reassure mothers. Many breastfeeding support products are available for purchase in the Women's Center Boutique.

Breastfeeding classes are also offered twice a month.

Saturday mornings, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Monday evenings, 6 - 8 p.m.

SPECIAL: Sign up for a childbirth series, parenting class or marvelous multiples class between September 1, 2010 and January 1, 2011 and receive FREE registration to breastfeeding class (a $35 value)!
