Huntsville Hospital's assault on cardiovascular mortality

Cardiac Employees Did you know that Alabama has the fourth highest death rate due to cardiovascular disease in the United States? That is one reason that Huntsville Hospital is working on a project called the “Assault on Cardiovascular Mortality.” It was originated by the Alabama chapter of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and co-sponsored by the Alabama Department of Public Health designed to bring attention to the epidemic of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the great state of Alabama. The importance of the project was recognized by the national ACC who awarded the Alabama chapter its "National Chapter of the Year Award" and by the Alabama House of Representatives who passed a special resolution supporting it.

Cardiologist Philip Laney, MD, of The Heart Center, is the Alabama ACC Chapter President Elect.
