Emergency Room Wait Time Explanation
Huntsville Hospital Emergency Department wait times are approximate and intended for informational purposes only. If you are having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.
ER wait times represent a four-hour rolling average updated every 15 minutes, and is defined as the average time it takes for a patient to be placed into a treatment room to be seen by the Emergency Department practitioner on duty.
Patients are triaged (evaluated) on arrival by a registered nurse and are then seen by an emergency medicine provider based on severity. Those determined to require immediate attention will go directly to a room.
Please remember, we provide care to the most critical cases first. If an ambulance arrives with a critical patient or there is an emergency situation, the wait time for other patients may be affected. Likewise, if you have a serious situation, you will be seen more quickly than those with less serious issues.
Wait times are always subject to change and your experience could vary.
